Sigue el Hilo is a community art project celebrating local immigrant fiber artists. Through workshops, exhibitions, and collaborations, we aim to empower immigrant artisans and foster a cross-cultural understanding of the immigrant experience in Houston. Each artist’s practice will be documented and shared through talks and collaborations, with opportunities for the public to participate in artist-led master classes that encourage skill-sharing and cultural exchange.
The exhibition will feature the participants’ work and their stories, accompanied by photos and narratives that contextualize their artistry within the immigrant experience. Along with the exhibition, there will be artist talks and workshops where attendees can engage directly with the artists and learn more about their craft and inspiration. Multimedia elements like storytelling, photography, and videography will help deepen the engagement.
